Every fortnight Alfie Dog fiction features a different author. This week I had exciting news that I've been chosen for the fortnight from 20th April.
I've mentioned Alfie Dog Fiction in this blog before. It publishes novels and short stories, and is a great site for both readers and writers. Only stories that meet the editor's standards are accepted. The benefits of this are twofold: people who download them can be sure of a decent read, and writers know that having work on the site will boost their reputation.
Most of the stories are priced at 39p each, which is less than the price of a packet of crisps. Writers aren't going to get rich on the royalties, but they can build up a following. There are often extra opportunities such as competitions, reviews, the chance to read about other writers and to share news or writing problems on the forum.
I currently have four stories on Alfie Dog Fiction:
In 'Bare Earth' keen gardener Pete has hopes of finding a girlfriend when his new neighbours move in. He is encouraged by their reaction to his floral presents and DIY help, but it is not long before he discovers a rival.
In 'Between Lives' the narrator meets Greta and her young son when she is fleeing the Russians in Germany at the end of World War II. Greta is naïve, but sticking together as they try to cross the border seems the safest option.
In 'The Bitter Harvest' Jim Stokes arrives to work on the Lambourne's farm in 1915. There is little warmth in the marriage of Dolly and Frank Lambourne, and Dolly is finding it hard to cope now that their son is at the front. Inevitably, her relationship with Jim becomes more than employer and labourer.
In 'The Cup that Refreshes' Elizabeth tries to avoid interrupting her composer husband, who is struggling to create his latest masterpiece, but his music gives her a headache. How long can she tolerate his selfishness before something has to give?
If you like reading, or write short stories, and haven't taken a look at what Alfie Dog Fiction has to offer yet, do visit: http://www.alfiedog.com
